Alexa Largoza - Ania feels that many people in today's society are
not aware that many adults cannot read or write. Everyone who can
support and/or donate their time or money to organizations that promote
the cause of adult literacy should do their part. Consider in supporting
this cause in any way possible.

There are many programs that help adults read. You can check the newspaper, pay attention to radio broadcasts or check your community bulletin board to see if there are any programs currently available. The best place to start is at your library.
Find a Time
Most programs have other volunteers and will ask you to choose a time that you can work with the adults who need help reading. Make sure you choose a time that fits your schedule so you can make that allotted time most effective.
Get Others Involved
If you enjoy volunteering to help adults learn to read, get others interested in helping as well. Many literacy programs do not have enough tutors for all the adults who need help. By getting others involved you can assist more people. Bringing someone with you each time you attend a reading session can offer another person a chance to learn, one that could change that person’s life for the better.
